How acting use to run me

I’ll let the video speak for itself. Let me know if you can you relate.

Thankfully I turned it all around once I shifted my priorities. Not only did I find my flow, I began to flourish in my acting career in such a big way and book.

My journey is why I founded The Actor’s Flow. I wanted to share and help other actors begin to book in a non conventional way. In a way that wasn’t being taught.

I tell all the grueling and humble, yet triumphant details of how […]

Caring for Your Instrument as an Actor

Our Instrument.  It is our everything.

For it is the very essence of you.  Without it we can not be nor become the actor in which we dream of becoming, the one that has that amazing and oh so dazzling career.

Just like a musician can’t play out his or her genius when the instrument’s not tuned up, we as actors have to stay tuned up to emotionally, physically and soulfully play out all the beautiful elements of the stories we get to tell with strength, vigor, and ease.

I’ve been experiencing trying to work with an instrument that’s not been fully tuned up […]

Tell A New Story

New Year.  New Story.

Do you find yourself frustrated or doubtful when you aren’t seeing the results you want to see in your acting career or personal life…year after year?

Perhaps it’s time to tell a new story.

“I never get called in to audition during pilot season.”

“I can’t lose weight – I love food too much.”

“My schedule is too busy for me to get to the gym.”

“I can’t afford to take an acting class right now or even get new headshots.”

I’ll put myself out there first…

I’m totally guilty of telling myself and others the same story over and over throughout the […]

How to Stop Prolonging Your Success

Don’t Settle For What’s Easy.

Yep, that’s right.

Stop prolonging success. Depending on where you are at on your acting journey – success for you may be just around the corner, just around a turn or two, or after many miles, twists, and turns of being in the driver’s seat.

Oh yes, YOU are in the driver seat more than you may realize.  This is a good thing – that it’s NOT solely up to our representation, casting directors, directors, or producers for our careers to unfold the way we are hoping and wanting them to.

Now realize this…that means you hold the power […]

When You Bomb an Audition

Auditions, they are demanding.

They test you.

They stretch you.

They inconveniently show up when they want to.

They show you what you are made of.

They expose your strengths and weaknesses.

They challenge your psyche.

They help you rise above.

They honestly can Rock. Your. World.

Or not…

If you are at the stage of your career where you receive auditions you know they usually come at unexpected times.  A time that doesn’t always accommodate your schedule.

Ding!  You just got the audition notification in your inbox, but…

you need to go make a living in that instant, care for a child or parent, you’re dealing with drama that’s taking place in your life, […]

Getting to Know Your Type

How many of you struggle with knowing your type?

I recently have worked with a couple of clients who had the goal of getting new representation and before we got into repackaging their marketing materials, creating a target list, and all the necessary prep work that goes into it when I asked what their type casting was – I began to see a theme.

Many actors don’t know what their type is and they leave it up to the industry to decide it for them.

So before we could jump into more of the administrative tasks needed to seek new representation we had […]

How to Win at the Patience Game

I’m not gonna lie, the art of being patient or have patience in the midst of rejection after rejection in all facets of your career – year after year is not easy.

Recently, I upleveled in a BIG way in my acting career.

After finally booking my first co-star role after moving to LA – five years later, I have now booked my first Guest Star role and it ended of being Top of Show!  That’s a big win for us actors right?

Now here’s the reality…guess how long it took me to book a Guest Star role since I moved to LA? […]

Where Finding Your Flow to Book Begins

Finding your Flow.

The time had come…I decided to return to acting.

I have to say it’s been fun getting back in the game and in the swing of things again.

I feel like more of myself again!

Am I fully energized, strong and ready to slay any and all casting opportunities? Honestly, I’m still making tweaks. While also finding the time to fit in acupuncture, chiro and physical therapy appointments around auditions. All to enhance my health to a state of true strength, vibrancy, feeling free in my body, and just downright feeling good.

I pause to ask…how are you taking care of yourself […]

How to Give Your Best When You’re Not Feeling Your Best

I have a confession to make.

Recently during my time off…I got booked.   Yep, I got cast.  Yes, I was on set.

How did that happen while I was not auditioning?

I’ll start by saying, “Never count out any of your auditions.”  So check it, it was early this year in January when I had the casting opportunity.  I read for four different co-star roles for the upcoming season.  They said shooting would take place anywhere between March-August.

There are those auditions that you just know you did a slam dunk, you went all in, and it just felt “right” -aka – lived and not […]

Top 3 Ways to Book the Room

Don’t go to get booked.  Go to book the room.

It’s what we commonly hear as actors if you’ve been in the game for a minute, have taken an on-camera class, or have been on many auditions, but you haven’t booked anything yet – you’re getting frustrated and a mentor, actor friend or teacher reminds you of this…oh so golden piece of advice.

If you are new to the acting scene and you’re now learning this for the first time, keep reading and once you begin to audition – own it.  And watch your career and confidence unfold because of it.

If you […]
